Yanaika and Niels are partners in crime. They decided to embark on the adventure for a culinary restaurant together. They share a love for hospitality and gastronomic dining. To put it in their own words: “We want to offer an exclusive experience where good food is central, and we also strive for the highest quality in products and service.”.
In the kitchen they work with local products as much as possible & they hold the principle of 'no food waste' of great importance. That is also the reason why it is decided to offer a fixed menu.

Yanaika Skrzyszkowiak took part in the first edition of the TV show 'Mijn Restaurant' in 2008, narrowly finishing in second place. Afterwards she opened the restaurant Exquisa in Hasselt. Here she was best known for her special potato dishes. In 2011, Yanaika was awarded the title of 'BRU Ladychef of the Year' and her first cookbook 'The kitchen of the LadyChef' was also published. She also made some special and exclusive dishes for the TV program 'VTM koken'. Clearly no lack of ambition! Now it's time for a new twist, where Yanaika can continue her experience as a cook in her own creative way. After a lot of brainstorming, she decided to start the restaurant 'The Black Knife' together with her business partner. With a passionate team at her side, she ensures a high-quality culinary experience.
He is our Maître d'hôtel and also our sommelier. This man receives the guests with a smile, so he is the point of contact in The Black Knife. Thomas, his great passion is wine. He wants to pass on his taste and experience of wine to the guests. With his years of experience, he is always looking for the ideal combination between gastronomy & wines, because with the right wine every dish becomes that little bit more special. Thomas also has a lot of experience, so he can give you extra attention to complete the total experience in our culinary restaurant. He loves to help you with making the right choice between adapted wines with the dishes or a wine à la carte.
Kirsten, our pastry chef already has a lot of experience, she already worked together with our chef Yanaika in the past. She has a passion for desserts and her great example is Roger van Damme. "Desserts is an art where you have to put in love and passion to get good." Kirsten strives every day to improve in her profession and is very eager to learn. She is therefore responsible for our cold kitchen, desserts, cookies and pastries. Thanks to her long catering experience and knowledge, she is very flexible. That is why she is also responsible for an all-round job where she can lend a hand everywhere. Kirsten is looking forward to spoiling you with all sweet treats and top desserts.
